Diplo rocked a spangly Elton John-inspired Dodgers jersey on Tuesday night (Oct. 27) in celebration of the Los Angeles team’s first World Series title in 32 years. “Somehow I ended up in Arlington Texas tonight, became a huge @Dodgers fan,” the superstar DJ/producer wrote alongside a series of pics in which he rocked a sparkly Dodgers jersey, hat and pants with “ELTON” written across the shoulders in homage to the Bob Mackie-designed outfit John wore for a pair of sold-out gigs at Dodgers stadium in 1975.
The Dodgers ended their three-decade championship drought on Tuesday by beating the Tampa Bay Rays in game 6, giving the city its second championship in a month to go with the L.A. Lakers’ NBA trophy. Lana Del Rey also celebrated, writing “Congrats Dodgers!,” while American Idol host Ryan Seacrest went all-in on his support of the hometown team.
Jason Isbell also congratulated the team, admitting, “I’ve been a Braves fan for many years now, but there was a time when my allegiances shifted,” he wrote, posting a caricature from 1988 in which young Jason is rocking Dodgers gear.
