If you think you’ve heard all the unreleased Notorious B.I.G. material there is, think again. A new animated Pepsi ad features an uncovered Biggie freestyle from 1997 in which the late Brooklyn rap icon drops a few bars about the sugary stuff in the run-up to Big’s upcoming Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Nov. 7.
The brief rap is courtesy of Biggie collaborators DJ Enuff and Cey Adams, who remastered the 23-year-old tapes of the freestyle Christopher Wallace dropped at D&D Studios all those years ago during a visit to Hot97, accompanied by a short animated video in which characters hang on the streets of Brooklyn listening to a boombox. The Antnamation short takes viewers on a tour of the rapper’s beloved borough, from the corner near Biggie’s childhood home on St. James Place to B.I.G.’s Bodega, where the crew gathers for some impromptu sidewalk break dancing.… Read the rest
