Caylee Hammack Was Inspired by Everclear When Writing ‘Just Friends’ — And Now Art Alexakis Is in Her Video

When Caylee Hammack was younger, her older brother introduced the country artist to alternative rock band Everclear and the group’s 1997 hit “I Will Buy You a New Life.”

The song, which peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart, has stuck with Hammack all these years later. On “Just Friends,” the new single from her album If It Wasn’t for You, she channeled her inner-Everclear and brought in a special guest to appear in the video, which premieres below.
